In 2000 the population was 316,149, and in 2010, the population was 16,233.
 
      The county seat of Richland County, Illinois is Olney.
 
      Richland County was formed on February 24, 1824, out of portions of Clay and Lawrence Counties.
 
      Richland County has nine townships :
            Bonpas, Claremont, Decker, Denver, German, Madison, Noble, Olney, Preston
 
      Some of the Cities, Towns, Villages and Communities are :
